What do you think of this theory? Is it true for you? For your loved ones?
Is it true mentally? Physically? Both?
Some things to think about:
- Does your workout program include well-designed activities that target coordination, spatial awareness, and reaction time?
- The body will become better at whatever you do, or don’t do. You don’t move? The body will make you better at NOT moving. If you move, your body will allow more movement (Ido Portal).
- You work hard for retirement. Make sure you also invest in your physical health so you can enjoy it.
- Many symptoms we associate with old age – including weakness and loss of balance – are actually symptoms of inactivity (Steam Train Fitness).
This still gets to me, as I try to get the message out about how to age well:
THIRTY YEARS & HUNDREDS OF PAPERS ON THE EFFECTS OF EXERCISE. … AND WE ARE STILL NOT EDUCATED THAT EXERCISE SHOULD BE A MAINSTAY OF IMPROVING OVERALL HEALTH (Medfit Network).
Here is my philosophy:
DO I WANT TO WORK OUT? NO. I DO IT BECAUSE I KNOW THERE ARE TWO DIRECTIONS – BACKWARD AND ONWARD. STAYING STILL IS NOT AN OPTION. CHANGE IS THE ONLY TRUE CONSTANT. YOU CAN DIRECT IT OR IT WILL DIRECT YOU.
My message? So much in life is out of our control, why not take control of what we can? Why not be as strong as possible when life gets tough? Going into a situation strong ensures you will endure it easier/better. It may even be the difference between continuing to be able to do what you love and losing that ability.
Think about it because your health is an investment, not an expense!
