How To Feel Better/Age Better

Here’s the deal:

“No action plan will allow a 65, 75 or 85 year old to act and feel like they are 25, 35, or 45 again. But there are many instances where something can be done. An older patient doesn’t have to sit back and accept their condition just because of their age.

There are ways to forestall and, in many instances, even restore muscle function and we can slow memory loss as well – if the older patient takes an active role.”

Bottom Line: How do you want to age?

I guarantee leaving your later years up to chance – or to the hope of a miracle cure/drug – won’t feel good. (ever hear this: Not planning for your future strength and mobility is like financial planning with lottery tickets).

On the other hand, taking control of whatever you can as you age will feel awesome! Being able to lift weight, feel more steady on your feet, and have more energy, which leads to more self-confidence.

Over 13 years training older adults, and I can tell you this:
– we work WITH limitations.
– as we age, things hurt! Your choice is to be strong with some aches and pains or be weak with some aches and pain
– going into any medical emergency or sickness being already weak is a recipe for disaster. You are already behind the 8 ball and don’t have any reserves to pull from
– EVERYONE who wants to age well NEEDS to be resistance training
– and yes, EVERYONE can!

Work with someone who KNOWS older adults. I’ve taken multiple continuing education courses on strength training while accommodating older adults’ issues – and have worked with all of it.
